Experience
While an undergraduate student, I did a lot of volunteer work with an office on Campus- P-20 Initiative. I would receive middle school and high school students and encourage them to go to college. I would inform them on what it takes and how they can make it happen. I also ran a few camps for the same office: an Architecture Camp and a Math Science Camp. The Architecture camp was for middle school students and I introduced them to theory, design principals, famous architects, and made it fun. The math, science, and chemistry camp was a two-week long curriculum I developed for 3rd-5th grade age children. I provide power point presentations and hands on activities. I was responsible for there safety and participation. I understand the information I am providing is mostly about younger children, but I did work with high school students and I feel like I connected with them very well. I addressed them properly, never talked down to them, and I managed to keep their focus and attention. I received positive feed back and even made some smile. I want to be a tutor because I genuinly enjoy working with students and help them understand. I feel like I can bring a postive attitude and be a great member of the team. I am very focused and goal oriented but will not be boring. Finally, I am a member of Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity. I was Community Service Chair, New Member Educator, Vice President, and President. What I gained from those experiences is patients and how to talk and relate to people.
